The Inscription of
Bilge Tonyukuk |
After the death of Tonyukuk, an inscription has
been built to his memory in the region of Bayin-çokto in Orkhun (perhaps in 726-727).
This is not only a source of national history remained from the Turks, but at the same
time, since it is the first monument of the Turkish language and literature that can be
read easily and long enough, it has an important place in the cultural history. The
possibility of writing out of the text of this inscription by Tonyukuk himself, has gained
the honour to Ayguçi, Bilge Tonyukuk to be the first person known, his name and his
personality, in the Turkish literature.
