The last Khorasan governor of Emevi people, Nasr b. Seyyar tried to calm down the Turkish
inhabitants in the Transoxania that resisted against the Arabian dominion in the region.
He eliminated the differences between the Turks and the Arabians and he was successful to
a certain degree in these activities. The stance of Nasr led the people to rely on him and
thus provided a little help for the adoption of the new religion. In the course of a
military expedition carried out by Nasr towards Usrusana in the year of 740, he subjected
the ruler of this region to his dominion. Although he encountered resistance in his
expedition towards the region of Şaş, he won the struggle and also established dominion
in this region.
In the period of the
dominion of Emevi dynasty for almost a century, the diffusion of Islam in Turkish
countries did not occur with a high speed like in the other regions that were conquered
due to the faulty policy that was followed by them. Furthermore, the diffusion in the
Transoxania and Caucasus that were the centres of continuous struggles has been relatively
much less when compared with the other regions. However, Muslim Arabians were settled in
big cities such as Bokhara and Samarkand, etc. and thus, a small success was achieved
through these bridgeheads. On the other hand, the public of the region got the opportunity
to get acquainted with the new religion. They were ready to adopt this religion if a fair
and equitable administration would be established.
