Seljuk who had lived for a long time died in
the city of Cend in 1007 when he was over one hundred years old. Seljuk had had four sons
named as Mikail, Arslan Israil, Yusuf and Musa. Mikail had died in the course of a war in
the lifetime of his father, and his sons, Cagri and Tugrul Beys were brought up by their
grandfather. Upon the death of Seljuk, Arslan Yabgu came to power as the ruler of the
family. After a while, all of Seljuk people left the city of Cend and went to the
surrounding of Bokhara that was the operational field of Arslan Yabgu. When the Samani
State was abolished, the Karahanli people established dominion upon Transoxania. This situation caused Seljuk people to
encounter with the aforesaid state. When Tugrul and Cagri Beys were attacked by Ilig Han
Nasr, they took shelter in the environs of Talas on the side of Bugra (Ahmed b. Ali) Khan
from the Karahanli dynasty. But Bugra Khan behaved them in hostile manners and arrested
Tugrul Bey. Upon this event, Cagri Bey defeated the Karahanli State with marauds and saved
his brother. Tugrul had to retreat towards the deserts because of the lack of enough
places and these pressures, and Cagri Bey carried out his famous raid towards the Eastern
Anatolia (1016-1021).
