Rebellion of Kavurd

Sultan Alp Arslan encountered with the rebellion of his
brother, Kavurd who was the ruler of Kirman in the year of 1067. Therefore, he immediately
advanced towards Kirman. When the Ruler Kavurd were defeated by the vanguard forces, he
retreated to the castle of Ciruft. He sent en envoy and wanted his pardon. Sultan accepted
this demand and forgave Kavurd despite his fault. He left him as the ruler of Kirman
again. Sultan Alp Arslan organised a military expedition towards Shiraz and Istahr. The
ruler of Istahr Castle submitted and obeyed to the sultan. Before long, Kavurd
collaborated with the Fazlule, the ruler of Fars and they jointly rebelled. Although Alp
Arslan had firstly advanced over Fazluye (October 1068), he assigned Nizam ul-Mulk with
the task of the annihilation of this renegate and he advanced towards Kirman. Nizam
ul-Mulk took Fazluye as prisoner (May-June 1069). Alp Arslan departed from Kirman when he
perceived an approach to the side of Kavurd among his soldiers.
