Expedition to Georgia

Sultan Alp Arslan had to organise another military expedition to Georgia for the second time in the year of 1067. Abhaz King Bagrat IV had collaborated with Alan people and transgressed into the lands of Sheddaddi State that was a Muslim State. Then, they destroyed and despoiled Erran and advanced towards Gence. Sultan Alp Arslan came to Erran in 1067 and Sheddaddi emir Fazl (or Fazlun) and Shirvan emir Ebu'l-Evsar declared their submission and obedience. Afterwards, Sultan penetrated into Georgia, and captured the region of Sheki and the ruler of this region adopted the religion of Islam. The Georgian king Bagrat IV did not dare to fight with Seljuks and ran away. Sultan Alp Arslan sent raiders to all directions of Georgia and conquered Tbilisi. As a result, Bagrat begged pardon and he submitted as a subject to Alp Arslan.

Mecca sheriff, Mohammed b. Ebi Hâsim came to the presence of Alp Arslan in the year of 1070 and declared that the prayers were delivered in the name of the Abbasi caliph and the Seljuk sultan in Mecca.
