Conquests of Yemen and Aden

In the course of his second visit to Baghdad (November 1091), Sultan Melikshah had convened several Turk beys around him and had some negotiations with them about the conquests that he planned to realise. Meanwhile, he sent Sa'd el-Devle Gevher-âyîn and his commanders, Tursek and Yarimkus (Yorunkus) with the task of the conquest of Yemen and Aden. Emir Tursek and Emir Yarinkus invaded the region of Yemen and Aden and added them to the lands of the Seljuk State in a swift manner (1092).

One of the most significant issues in the period of Sultan Melikshah was the outcome of the Ismaili operational centres within the boundaries of the Seljuk State. Hasan Sabbah who was the supporter of Ismaili carried out some secret activities. As a result of these activities, he had captured the castle of Alamut on the mountains of Elbruz near Kazvin (4th September 1090). Sultan Melikshah sent his commanders such as Yoruntas, Arslantas and Kizilsarg, etc. against the Ismaili peple in Alamut and Kuhistan. Howver, the operation against the people of Ismaili was stopped upon his death (1092).
