Struggles with Gurlu
People |
Pursuant to the defeat of Sencer in Katvan, Gurlu
people had captured Herat and advanced towards Belh (1147). Emir Kumac, one of the Seljuk
commanders who tried to stop Gurlu people was defeated in his war. Then, the ruler of
Gurlu, Alaaddin Huseyin did not send the annual tax to Sencer and declared his
independency and advanced towards Heri Rud. When Gurlu people gained power and assumed a
hostile attitude against the Seljuk State, Sencer had to organise a military expedition.
Finally, the two sides fought in the place called nab near Herat. In this war, Sultan
Sencer absolutely defeated Ala ed-Din and took him as a prisoner (June 1152). Ala ed-Din
stayed in the service of Sencer for a while and he was able to satisfy the retinue. Then,
Sencer forgave Alaaddin and assigned him with the administration of Gur.
