Akkoyunlu State

The most reliable information about the settlement of
Akkoyunlu tribe in the Eastern Anatolia could be found in the work of Ebu Bekr-i Tihrani
titles as Kitab-i Diyarbekriyye that included the history of the Akkoyunlu dynasty. The
author relates Karayülük Osman Bey who was the founder of the state with the 52nd
relevance degree extending towards Oguz Han through Bayındır Khan. The aforesaid author
has stated that this tribe had firstly appeared in the Eastern Anatolia in the beginning
of the century XIII, and that they resisted to the Mongolian invasions and established
dominion within the environs of Diyarbekir. Meanwhile, they had organised military
expeditions against the Trebizond-Greek State and the Georgians.
