Nikolayev Yefimovich, was born in 1937 in Ordjonikitze Province Otkomtsy village. He is
the son of peasant parents. He graduated from Veterinary Institute in Orısk in 1961. He
was admitted to Central Committee of Communist Party High Academy. As from 1961, he began
to work as a veterinary surgeon in Jugansk province of Saha (Yakutistan) Republic. He
became the Regional Komsomol Chairman of the same province. He served as Komsomol
Department Chairman of Yakutsk city between 1961 and 1969. |

Central Committee of Communist Party in Verhne Velyuyski Province between 1971 and 1978.

- He served as the deputy
Prime Minister of Saha (Yakutistan) between 1979 and 1985.

- He conducted the post
of Chairman of Agricultural Industry Committee of Saha (Yakutistan) Republic between 1985
and 1989.

- He presided the Upper
Soviet Presidium of Saha (Yakutistan) Republic until December of 1990 from 1989.

- He acceded to Upper
Soviet Presidency as from April 1990.

- He became the first
elected president of Saha (Yakutistan) Republic on 20 December 1991.

Yefimovich is married with 3 children.
