- Askar Akaev was born on
10 Kasım 1944 in Kızılbayrak village of Kemindey Region. His father was a kolkhoz
worker. He worked as a metal worker in Fdurzemash factory as from 1961. He graduated from
Leningrad Sensitive Mechanical and Optics Institute in 1968. He worked as a researcher and
teacher between 1972 and 1973 in Frunze Polytechnical Institute and then Leningrad
Sensitive Mechanical and Optical Institute.
- Askar Akaev turned back
in 1976 to the capital city of Kirghizia and began to work as senior teacher, associate
professor and even department chief in Political Institute.
- Between 1986 and 1987,
he was the Chairman of Scientific and Educational Corporations department of Kirghizia
Communist Party Central Committee. He was elected as the deputy chairman to Sciences
Academy and as the chairman two years later. Within the same year, Askar Akaev was elected
as USSR public representative. Askar Akaev is an academician of Kirghizia Republic
Sciences Academy and a physicist well-known in scientific environment in all over the
world. He has made great contributions to Data Processing Engineering and solution of
problems of quantum radiophysics with his expertise. In addition, he is one of the
developers of optical data processing engineering.
- Askar Akaev was elected
as the Kirghizia President in October of 1990. He opposed actively to the coup d'état
trial in 1991 August as the President of Kirghizia. Askar Akaev became the first president
of Kirghizia elected by the nation on 12 October 1991. After the new constitution of
Kirghizia was accepted in 1993 May, a need for a referendum arose to determine the level
of confidence in Askar Akaev. In 1994 January, Kirghizia people approved the authorities
of the Kirghizia president. Askar Akaev governed Kirghizia in the hardest period of its
history. The republic became independent with him. He became a full member of world
community and the democratic modifications he made was welcomed by the world.
