- Islam
Kerimov was born on 30 January 1938 in Samarkand. He had high education in two majors. The
first is mechanical engineering, and the other one is economical sciences .He started his
working life as an assistant master in an enterprise in Tashkent.

- He frequently took
service as a master, technician and engineer in the same enterprise. In addition, he
worked as an engineer in Tashkent Plane Facilities Complex in 1961.

- He was a deputy expert
in Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic Planning Organization when he was promotes as the
Deputy chairman of Uzbekistan Republic State Planning Committee in 1966.

- He was appointed as the
Minister of Finance of Republic of Uzbekistan in 1983.

- He was appointed to
Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic in 1986 and chairman of State
Planning Committee. He occupied many directive positions in Central Committee of
Uzbekistan Communist Party within 1986.

- He was elected as the
president by the parliament on 24 March 1990.

- One year later,
Uzbekistan people elected on 29 December 1991 with a great majority the chairman of
Uzbekistan People's Democratic Party, Islam Kerimov as the President of Uzbekistan
Republic.

Republic of independent Uzbekistan since then..
